    Chattanooga Charity Golf Tournament

    Breakaway’s 14th annual Champions Fore Kids Chattanooga golf tournament is coming up at WindStone golf club!

    Chattanooga Golf Event: September 30, 2024

    We are seeking “champions” with a BIG heart and a sweet stroke to tee it up for our annual Champions Fore Kids Chattanooga golf tourney. Proceeds from this golf event benefit our Breakaway Outreach ministries. By teeing it up with Breakaway, you are championing the GOSPEL for the next generation and shaping brighter futures through communities of faith, hope, and love.

    Maybe you cannot join us for the event but would still like to champion the mission. Here are some ways that you can be a part of our CHAMPIONS event, even if you cannot be there in person…

    1. DONATE: Mail a check payable to “Breakaway Outreach,” or give securely online. You can also give in honor or memoriam of a personal “champion” in your life. We can recognize that person publicly or keep it private at your request.

    2. SERVE: Sign up to volunteer as an individual or organize a mission team to champion the Spirit of Christmas among underserved children and at-risk youth during our upcoming holiday outreaches.

    3. HOST: Invite us to visit your church, small group, missions conference, etc., to do a presentation about how to partner with Breakaway to champion HOPE at home or abroad in 2024. Domestic projects and international mission trips are available, too!

    WindStone Golf Club is a private club owned and operated by Tim & Wes Gilbert since 1993. The Club first opened as a fully functional 18-hole public golf course in 1989. The Gilberts took over operations in 1993 and continued in the public market. WindStone has become the premiere all inclusive private club in town.

    Baseball5™ Sports Ministry and Youth Outreach

    Baseball5™ has seen explosive international growth since its launch by the WBSC in 2017, and will make its debut in the Youth Olympic Games in 2026.

    What is Baseball5?

    Baseball5™ is a simple urban version of the classic games of baseball and softball, where only a rubber ball is required to play the game. This faster paced street discipline of the sport has been designed to appeal to youngsters and other fans across the world. The variant eliminates the need for traditional baseball equipment such as bats, gloves, helmets, etc. No pitcher is needed as hitting is done by hand. The sport maintains the uniqueness of baseball/softball while eliminating the structural complexities, thus making the game playable anywhere.

    The discipline can be characterized as: accessible, sustainable, urban, youth-focused, inclusive, and instant fun.

    Baseball5 Basics

    • Fast-paced team sport
    • Individual skills and hand-eye coordination are highlighted
    • Utilizes four vital athletic skills: Hitting, Throwing, Catching, Running
    • No construction or dedicated venue needed
    • A rubber ball (or tennis ball) is the only equipment needed to play

    The game is played on a compact playing field that requires little space for the game, the teams are small and therefore the game is fast and dynamic.

    Baseball5 as Sports Ministry

    Baseball5™ is helping to drive baseball and softball to new places not possible before, which also makes it a highly impactful sport for evangelism, youth outreach, and church missions. Depending on the venue, Breakaway Outreach can facilitate Baseball5™ as a standalone sports ministry camp or provide coaches to add it as a feature to an existing ministry context such as multisport camp, English camp, student ministry, or VBS program.

    Breakaway Outreach has used Baseball5™ as sports ministry in USA, Germany, Italy, Northern Ireland, England, Dominican Republic, Ghana, and Korea. These camps are creating sustainable discipleship pathways for youth to build relationships in gospel-centered community, and take next steps in following Jesus beyond the camps.     Vova’s Prayer and The D.R.E.A.M. Initiative

    Vova grew up in an orphanage in Ukraine. He was adopted and brought to America when he was 15-years old. In 2021, he had the opportunity to go on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic, where he shared his testimony at an orphanage and worked with a sports ministry for underserved children. That experience captured Vova’s heart for the Dominican people and he’s never been the same since. On another visit to the DR, Vova asked God for a vision of how he can help give opportunities to less fortunate children in the region. The D.R.E.A.M. initiative was born as an answer to Vova’s prayer.

    The D.R.E.A.M. (Dominican Republic Equipping Athletic Ministries) initiative aims to equip local Dominican leaders/coaches with resources to help develop young athletes through gospel-centered programs, and to mobilize sports ministry mission teams to go and serve in the DR.

    Some of the D.R.E.A.M. goals include:

    • Providing sports equipment for faith-based athletic programs
    • Funding construction and renovation projects for sports fields/venues
    • Equipping Dominican leaders/coaches/mentors with essential ministry tools for sports development and spiritual formation (discipleship)
    • Mobilizing mission teams to go and serve in the DR

    Here are some ways that you can partner with the D.R.E.A.M. initiative:

    GIVE: You can support the D.R.E.A.M. initiative by making a monetary donation or donating sports equipment.

    GO: You can go and serve with our partners in the DR, bringing gospel-centered sports ministry to youth and children.

    PRAY: You can pray for God’s work in the DR. Pray for the leaders we are resourcing, the youth/children being served, and the local churches we partner with to multiply disciple-making movements through sports ministry.

    13-Foot Coffins: The Jimmy Larche Story

    In 13-Foot Coffins, Breakaway Outreach founder Jimmy Larche chronicles God’s redemptive fingerprints through childhood abandonment, abuse, and fatherlessness.

    Like the ancient Roman gladiators, we don’t get to choose the arenas we fight in, but we do get to choose how we will fight, and to what honor we will uphold. Pain, suffering, and injustice are often the catalysts that God uses to birth champions of His Cause.

    Born to a teenage mother, Jimmy spent most of his childhood years fatherless. But he went from one extreme to the other when his biological father remarried his mother and began a seven-year string of violent abuses. At fourteen-years-old, Jimmy ran away over 1,000 miles across the country. He eventually landed in a juvenile detention center; a place that served as a spiritual boot camp for him to begin to learn how to face his giants with grace and courage.

    When we run from our giants, we rob God of the glory He longs to get from our stories. Jimmy learned that the giants of fear, bitterness, unforgiveness, anger, and a “victim-mentality” must be slain in order to find holistic recovery, ultimate freedom, and the courage to break generational curses.

    There is a dance with destiny awaiting us all if we can learn to live from a forgiving heart and fall relentlessly into the arms of grace. Jesus, the master choreographer of this dance, will never waste our pain and suffering. When we allow him to redeem our past, it gives our life purpose, meaning, and an enduring legacy. Most importantly, our courage to face our giants affords God the glory He longs to gain from our lives.

    Humanity is a messy place to learn how to become fully alive.  Nevertheless, it is indeed a boot camp of faith; a spiritual gauntlet in which God calls every one of us to go through if we are to bear the resemblance of His Son, Jesus. And I’ve learned over the years that pain is not only an unfortunate part of this growth process; it is indeed a very necessary, vital, and essential part of our journey. My hope is that as you read this book you will come to experience the same grace I’ve experienced in discovering God’s redemptive purpose through pain and suffering, and to have the perfect peace that even when our pain doesn’t make sense, our heavenly Father’s love remains steadfast.

    His love can be trusted even when a “Why” cannot be traced.

    13-Foot Coffins is not necessarily my story, it’s His-story; one where I have been given the humble privilege of being an extra that points to the main character in this story: Jesus Christ.  This account is a living chronicle of God’s redemptive work in a fallen world where generational curses run rampant, and specifically, His intimate dealings in rescuing a young person out of childhood trauma, and setting him free to become a difference maker in giving hope to countless others. I am no longer a victim; I am more than a conqueror through HIM who loved me out of darkness and into His glorious light (Romans 8:37). Healing, forgiveness, and freedom can be found for those who truly want to become fully alive.

    Welcome to His story; one in which I serve as a humble stagehand in lifting up the unbound Healer, faithful Redeemer, and Prince of Peace: Jesus, the risen Christ!

    Join me in this rich journey of grace in slaying a victim-mentality and finding your God-inspired dance with destiny!
