kids facing hardship

Helping the next generation breakaway from broken stories to live hopeful, faith-filled futures.

Breakaway’s recovery-focused ministries exist to help children, youth, and young adults overcome the effects of trauma, addiction, hardship, and broken family structures through Christ-centered mentorship, life skills development, and community support.

We step into the hard places.

For more than three decades, Breakaway Outreach has been a steady presence of hope—walking beside kids and teens as they rise above stigma and hardship to become compassionate, contributing adults. At our core, we are a ministry of presence. We go where young people live, enter their stories of struggle and pain, and gently point them to the One who redeems every broken place.

We are helping young people recover:

  1. Identity – Rediscovering who we truly are as sons and daughters of God, made in His image and deeply loved. “You are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you.” — Isaiah 43:4
  2. Wholeness – Restoring the emotional, spiritual, and relational health that was fractured by pain, abuse, neglect, or addiction. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3
  3. Purpose – Recovering the God-given calling and potential that often gets buried beneath shame, fear, or false narratives. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works…” — Ephesians 2:10
  4. Hope – Rekindling faith that tomorrow can be different because Christ makes all things new. “Behold, I am making all things new.” — Revelation 21:5
  5. Community – Reclaiming healthy, grace-filled relationships after the isolation that trauma and dysfunction often create. “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2

We’re recovering what sin, trauma, and brokenness have stolen from the hearts of young people. We’re not just helping youth recover from something — but recovering to Someone. True recovery isn’t just about breaking habits or overcoming pain; it’s about rediscovering the One who heals, restores, and redefines us. In Christ, young people find their identity, hope, and purpose—moving from brokenness to wholeness, from despair to destiny.

—Psalm 147:3

What We Do

1. We create spaces where kids can process pain.
Through camps, KidVenturez™ adventures, support groups, and mentoring initiatives, we provide safe and nurturing environments where young people can find belonging, navigate a recovery journey, and grow in a personal relationship with Christ. These experiences help kids discover hope, resilience, and identity in the midst of their stories.

2. We build pathways for youth and family recovery.
We partner with agencies, local churches, and other recovery ministries to create practical pathways for youth and their families to walk out recovery together. By fostering collaboration and community, we help families find healing, stability, and sustainable support systems rooted in faith and community.

3. We train and equip the Church to bring healing.
We equip local churches, mentors, and youth workers with trauma-informed ministry tools to better serve children and teens facing hardship in their communities. Through workshops, leadership development, and hands-on resources, we help the Body of Christ become first responders of grace—bringing hope and restoration to the next generation.

Breakaway’s Camp Elevate has a long history of giving kids facing hardship safe spaces to encounter Jesus, begin a journey to recovery, build faith and resilience, and develop into young adult leaders who give back to their communities.
