At Breakaway Camp Elevate, our campers are paired up and given a “Change the World” assignment.
They have been entrusted with a “hypothetical” $1million to fund their “CTW” project, are given prompts such as those below, and must prepare a presentation to share with the rest of the camp during our big CTW unveil night.

1. What’s your Cause, or Big Idea to Change the World? What’s something wrong or unfair in the world that you want to change? Give your project a name that shows your passion and purpose.
2. How will your project help people or change lives?
3. What kind of events will you organize in your school or your community?
4. How can you bring awareness to your cause using social media or community-based outreach platforms?
5. Prepare a presentation to cast your vision with others, using speech, PowerPoint, multimedia, or other creative means.
For kids who have faced hardship or trauma in their own lives, this exercise helps to build empathy, heal emotionally, and shape resilience. The group work, teamwork, and community interaction also helps at-risk kids learn cooperation, communication, and conflict resolution.
