Christmas Cards for Refugees Project

Through Breakaway Global partnerships, communities will be decorating Christmas greeting cards for refugees in Germany. This is a great opportunity for students, families, youth groups, and children’s Sunday School classes to respond to the greatest humanitarian crisis of our generation by sending Christmas joy to refugees affected by war, persecution, and conflict around the world.

Please fill out this volunteer form if your group would like to decorate Christmas cards for refugees in 2016.

REPORT FROM 2015 REFUGEE CHRISTMAS OUTREACH COORDINATOR IN GERMANY:

The gospel was shared in Farsi (Persian), Arabic, Macedonian, and English languages!

“We had Christians from Africa with us, Muslims from Afghanistan, Syria, Macedonia,” said the coordinator. “The atmosphere was incredible as the Word of God spread in the hearts of all. Jesus Christ, the Savior is born, is what we celebrated yesterday among us.”

The team serves daily in a refugee camp that has housed thousands of refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers a month. In a coordinated effort with several area churches, outreach team members pick up groups from the camp and bring them to church for cultural classes and Bible studies each week, “sharing Jesus as a Friend of Refugees,” the coordinator says. They share meals together, sing and dance together, and offer creative time for children.

At the Christmas party, workers explained to the refugees about the Christmas card project and the partnership our Chattanooga community has in Germany by facilitating baseball camps for youth and sports camps for refugee children during the summer.

Thank you to all the Chattanooga area schools, churches, and youth groups who participated in the Christmas Cards for Refugees project in 2015. Your contribution to this ministry has planted seeds of hope, comfort, and encouragement to displaced families and children this holiday season. The love and kindness you have expressed is shaping eternity in the hearts of hurting people.
