Keeping kids safe, inspired!

After school programs (sometimes called OST or Out-of-School Time) serve children and youth of all ages, and encompass a broad range of focus areas including academic support, mentoring, youth development, arts, and sports and recreation. The activities in which children and youth engage while outside of school hours are critical to their development.

There are millions of children left alone and unsupervised each day after school. For these children, the after school hours are dangerous times; times when they are “at risk” for getting into serious trouble. But after school programs offer kids a positive alternative. After school programs keep kids safe, inspire them to learn, and help working families.

After school programs can generate positive outcomes for youth including improved academic performance, classroom behavior, and health and nutrition. Communities and businesses also benefit when youth have safe and productive ways to spend their time while their parents are at work.

Our after school programs, in conjunction with our neighborhood outreach and KidVenturez program, serve to provide safe after school environments for kids to engage in community, experience adventure, and build character. Our faith-based activities provide recreational fun and character development. We can also match your child with one-on-one academic tutoring if needed. We aim to empower youth emotionally, intellectually, socially, and spiritually.

If you are looking to start an after school program in your community, The Afterschool Alliance raises awareness of the importance of after school programs and offers research and tools for starting or improving your own local program.
