Pray for Juvenile Inmates and Prisoners' Kids
Two children became a part of our Breakaway family last year when a relative signed them up for our KidVenturez program for prisoners' kids. A couple of months ago, their father was murdered one week after being released from a state prison. The road ahead will be difficult to navigate for the seven and eight year olds, but we also know the power of prayer and that having our partners interceding for them will open up many windows of hope and doors for enrichment. Throughout the holiday season, Breakaway Outreach will be offering Christmas HOPE to countless juvenile inmates and prisoners' children whose lives have been broken and brought to the brink of despair. Here are a few ways that you can pray for incarcerated youths, prisoners' kids, and their families. 1. Pray for those incarcerated. Whether it is an adult or a youth. Remember that walls and bars do not bind God's love and all-sufficient grace. Pray that those behind bars will experience the HOPE of Jesus Christ in a redemptive nature this Christmas. 2. Pray for the children and younger siblings of those incarcerated. Even though they are not the ones locked up, in many cases they bear an incredible amount of shame, grief, and embarrassment. Pray for their eyes and hearts to be open to God's love story as it is brought to them through the hands of our Breakaway “angels”. Pray that they begin to see their plight as an opportunity for God's glory and divine restoration; not a shadow of shame they must live in for the rest of their lives. 3. Pray for the Breakaway staff and workers as we share Christ's love this Christmas. Our many volunteers are angels without wings. They come bearing gifts of hope, healing, joy, love, and encouragement. Pray for their love to be genuine and the Gospel to be adorned as they spend time with multitudes of incarcerated youth and prisoners' families throughout the next month. "Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” (Psalm 82:3-4 ESV) |
