Adventure Camp for At-Risk Youth
Breakaway Outreach provides summer adventure
camps and retreats for at-risk youth between the ages of
8 to 14. The vision of this camp is to offer a whole
week of overnight camping and spiritual retreat for prisoners’
kids as well as other high risk children.
Utilizing adventures in kayaking, whitewater
rafting, hiking, and other wilderness elements, the camp
serves to increase children's resiliency characteristics,
social skills, and spiritual development.
Hosted in the beautiful mountains of western
North Carolina, camp transcends hot dogs, activities,
and campfires - the camp provides a chance for a child to
hear the life-changing message that Jesus loves them through
Bible studies, worship experiences, and the influence of
loving camp counselors. More than just a summer session,
the camp experience bridges into children's lives for year-round
mentoring relationships.
There are over 1.5 million children of
prisoners in the U.S. today. According to national statistics,
59 percent of these children are under the age of ten. In
addition, children of prisoners are six times more likely
to commit crimes than other children a U.S. Senate report
indicates.
For most prisoners’ children, summer camp
is only a dream. With mom or dad in prison, these kids are
at a higher risk for drug abuse, violence, and experiencing
prison time as well. But it doesn't have to be that way
– together, we can make a difference!

Would you like to work with us to help make these kids'
dreams of summer camp come true? We need partners who are
willing to help with full or partial scholarships to make
this dream a reality.
The cost per child is $255. Please pray
about offering a "Summer of Hope" for a child by providing
a scholarship today. Make a secure online donation below
